The Holy Quran and hadith have an affirmed blessing in them, but it is important to have faith in them to gain benefit from them. If there is a deficiency in faith, there will be no benefit. Once a son of a hadith scholar read in a hadith that mushroom extract is beneficial for painful eyes. His servant had pain in the eye. As an experiment he instilled the extract in the servant’s eyes but his pain increased. When the son narrated this incidence to his father (hadith scholar), he asked him what was his intention when he instilled the drops. He answered, “to test the validity of hadith”, the scholar then said that,”had you not faith in the holy prophet’s (p.b.u.h) hadith? This is the punishment of it. The son then repented, corrected his intention. Now that he instilled, it proved beneficial.
Scholars say that hazrut Ali رضی اللہ عنہا had painful eyes and it is harmful to eat dates with painful eyes, therefore the holy prophet (p.b.u.h) told hazrut Ali رضی اللہ عنہا not to eat dates and when he was presented with beet root, he (p.b.u.h) gave it to hazrut ali رضی اللہ عنہا and told him to eat it, “they are beneficial for you and it will also relieve your weakness”.
This hadith proves that beetroot reduces weakness and increases virility. (Reference: kitaab e nabwi ﷺ
